Stages of Vocal Development in Infants

Before babies even start saying their first word, there are stages of vocal development that they go through! 

What is vocal development?

In a nutshell, it is how your infant is using their voice to communicate! These developmental stages become more complex as your baby grows and are the building blocks to your baby's first word! Starting from the time your baby is born, they are expressing themselves by vocalizing! At first, the communication will be cries of hunger. The cries eventually turn into squeals of joy and babble of sounds! These milestones develop at specific ages, but there is often overlap with the stages. New characteristics develop during each phase, resulting in exciting and different ways for your baby to communicate!
